What is Peptide Purity and Why Does It Matter?
Peptide purity refers to the percentage of the desired peptide compound in a sample, with the remainder being impurities from synthesis, degradation, or contamination. Purity directly impacts research reliability and is the single most important quality metric for research peptides.
How Purity is Measured
The gold standard for purity measurement is HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography). HPLC separates the target peptide from impurities based on their chemical properties. The purity percentage is calculated from peak areas on the resulting chromatogram. A 99% pure peptide means 99% of the sample is the target compound and 1% is impurities.
