Understanding Selank Dosing in Research
Selank is a synthetic analog of the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin (threonyl-lysyl-prolyl-arginine), with an additional Pro-Gly-Pro sequence that enhances metabolic stability. Developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Russia, Selank has been researched for anxiolytic, nootropic, and immunomodulatory properties.
Mechanism of Action
Selank modulates the enkephalinase system, inhibiting the enzymatic degradation of endogenous enkephalins and thereby enhancing GABAergic and opioidergic inhibitory neurotransmission. It also influences BDNF expression, serotonin metabolism, and IL-6 signaling. This multi-target mechanism distinguishes it from single-pathway anxiolytic compounds.

Comparison with Semax
Selank and Semax represent complementary peptide approaches to neuroscience research: Selank is primarily anxiolytic (calming) through enkephalin/GABA modulation, while Semax is primarily nootropic (stimulating) through BDNF/dopamine pathways.
